Between R&D and MarketingUnilever’s R&D department in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands, had been working intensively on the creation of a design process in order to develop a series of products to be sold outside Europe. The R&D department sees itself as more than a provider of technical solutions, and therefore wanted to liaise and cooperate with the internal client (local marketeers) in the NPD process. They wanted to try out a new way of working towards a solution together and were interested in the SIT method.
Participants’ feedback: The method truly works. It does something to the way you think and organise thoughts. It is interactive and results oriented. It gives structure and focus to idea generation. The ideas generated are less complicated, less far-fetched. The output has exceeded our expectations.
Project leader’s feedback: We were working for international markets and couldn’t completely place ourselves in the shoes of the local marketeers. The great thing about this project is that we have delivered ready-to-launch ideas with accompanying visuals, and we were able to clearly explain and trace how the ideas were originated.
